Fun Day Success

A group of Individuals from Paragon gave something back to their community by hosting a ‘fun day’ at their apartment project in Colne in October. The main aim of the day was to raise as much cash as possible for local charity The Open Door Project and The Waterside Youth Club.

The participants, who all live in Colne, organised a host of fundraising activities and invited friends and supporters to join in their ‘fun day’ in a bid to raise money for their local charity and youth club. Participants took part in an array of activities including; Beat the Goaly, Soak the Manager, Throw the Welly and a series of Raffles.

The individuals taking part, who have a range of learning disabilities, are all supported by Paragon to live independently within apartment project Centaur Court. The individuals live in their own tenancies and Paragon staff support each person with daily living skills, going out and about in the community and with any activity involved in leading the life they choose.

Paragon Service Manager, Anne Bateman said: “This has been a fantastic event. The individuals taking part have a range of diverse needs themselves but have taken time out to support two organisations – one of which helps disadvantaged people in Colne. Everyone got into the spirit of things and together we raised a massive £250. I want to thank everyone for their commitment and for taking part in what was a really successful event.”

£150 raised from the day will go to The Open Door Project – a local charity who provide emergency food, a drop in centre, information and counselling for homeless and vulnerable people in the local area. The remaining £100 will go to The Waterside Youth Club to fund activities for local kids.
